About Us

It all started with a photograph. Co-authors Christine Hubbard and Lennon Gross knew one another years ago, but reconnected when a photograph was submitted to Christine of a supposed specter spotted by a local soccer field.

With the treasure trove of stories from the Agricultural Reserve, what began as a literary version of the annual Medley District Ghost Tour has turned into an oral history project spanning the county and encompassing the stories of generations worth of residents.

Acknowledgement

We at MLAR strive to tell the hidden history of the Agricultural Reserve. This includes the stories of the freed black communities of Montgomery County, and the indigenous peoples who called this land home, primary the Piscataway Native Americans.

We believe that by bringing light to these legends and tales, we can better understand and better love this place, and all the inhabitants who have contributed to creating it.
